Privacy Policy
App: FlorIQ (formerly PlantSnap AI) · Last updated: 5 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FlorIQ (the “App”, “we”, “us”) handles
information when you use the App on Android or iOS. By using the App you agree to this policy.
1. We do not require an account
The App has no sign-up or login. We do not ask for your name, email, address, or phone number.
2. Information processed
- Plant photos. When you add a plant by camera or gallery, the selected image is sent
to our backend and on to a third-party AI provider to identify the plant and produce a care guide.
Images are used only to generate that result and are not used to build a profile of you.
- Typed plant names. If you add a plant “by name”, the text you enter is sent to the
same AI service to return identification and care information.
- Your saved plants. Plants you add (photo, names, care guide, full profile, watering and care
history) are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload or sync this library to our
servers.
- Location and weather. If you grant location permission, your approximate coordinates are used
to look up local weather and your general area so care advice can reflect local conditions. Coordinates are
sent to our weather and geocoding providers at the time of the lookup. Location is not stored on our servers
and is not linked to an identity. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time; the App remains
usable without it.
- Subscription data. If you purchase FlorIQ Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google.
We never receive your payment card details. Our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receives a pseudonymous
app-generated user ID together with store receipt and entitlement data in order to validate the purchase and
keep your subscription status in sync across your devices.
- Abuse-prevention data. To rate-limit AI requests, our backend stores a non-identifying
request counter keyed to a coarse client identifier and the date. This is used solely to enforce
daily usage limits and is not used to identify you. Requests are also attested with Firebase App Check to
block traffic that does not originate from a genuine install of the App.
- Advertising & device data. The free tier shows ads via Google AdMob, which may collect
device identifiers and usage data as described in Google’s policies.
- Diagnostics and usage. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports (device model, OS version,
stack traces, and a random installation identifier) so we can fix defects. Firebase Analytics /
Google Analytics for Firebase collects aggregate app-usage events. Neither is used to contact you.
3. Consent for advertising (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Where required, the App uses the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for your consent before personalized
ads and related data collection take place. This consent request is presented when you first launch the App in a
region where it applies. You can also limit ad personalization at any time through your device’s advertising
settings, or withdraw consent entirely by uninstalling the App.
Separately, the App asks for your consent before sending images or text to the AI identification provider. You can
review and change that choice at any time in the App’s settings.
4. Third-party services
- Firebase (Google). Cloud Functions and Firestore power image/name analysis and rate limiting;
App Check attests requests; Crashlytics reports crashes; Analytics reports aggregate usage.
- AI identification provider (via OpenRouter). Receives the image or text you submit to
return plant identification and care content.
- Google AdMob and the Google User Messaging Platform. Serve banner and
rewarded advertisements and manage ad consent.
- RevenueCat. Validates App Store and Google Play subscription receipts and manages
entitlement status.
- Open-Meteo. Provides weather forecasts and place-name search for the coordinates supplied.
- BigDataCloud. Provides reverse geocoding (coordinates to an approximate place name).
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review
Google’s Privacy Policy,
OpenRouter’s Privacy Policy,
RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy,
Open-Meteo’s terms, and
BigDataCloud’s Privacy Policy.
5. How we use information
- To identify plants and generate care guides and full profiles you request.
- To tailor care and watering guidance to local weather conditions, where you allow location access.
- To validate subscription purchases and unlock FlorIQ Pro features on your devices.
- To prevent abuse and enforce fair usage limits.
- To diagnose crashes and understand aggregate usage so we can improve the App.
- To display advertising in the free tier, which helps keep the App available at no cost.
6. Data retention
Your plant library lives only on your device and is removed when you delete entries or uninstall the App.
Images submitted for identification are processed transiently to produce a result and are not retained by us
for profiling. Rate-limit counters expire over time. Subscription receipt and entitlement records are retained by
our subscription provider for as long as needed to support your subscription and to meet accounting obligations.
Crash reports are retained on a rolling basis by Firebase Crashlytics.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly
collect personal data from children.
8. Your choices
- Delete any saved plant at any time within the App.
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
- Grant, decline, or revoke location permission in your device settings.
- Review or change your AI processing consent in the App’s settings.
- Control ad personalization through your device’s advertising settings.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account or Google Play account settings.
- Contact us at the address in section 11 to request access to, or deletion of, any data held about you.
9. Security
Data transmitted to our backend is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or
storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
