🦦 Otter Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 15, 2026

In short: Otter has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your browsing data, downloads, bookmarks, PIN and settings stay on your device. Pages you visit and video files you download come directly from the sites you choose. When Otter crashes, a crash report goes to Google's Firebase Crashlytics for us to read (section 2). Some Android settings can share page addresses with Google; see section 4.

1. Overview

OsiVibeCode LLC, an Arizona limited liability company, publishes Otter, a private web browser for iPhone, iPad and Android. Otter finds videos on the pages you open and can download them to your device. This policy explains what the app stores, what it sends and to whom. Otter has no account of its own and no advertising.

2. Information We Collect

Otter does not collect personal information. We run no servers for Otter and receive no copy of your browsing, downloads or backups. The app has no sign-in, no advertising SDK and no analytics. The only data that reaches us is crash reports, described below.

Crash reports. Otter uses Google's Firebase Crashlytics to learn when it crashes. A report contains where in the app the crash happened (a stack trace), the app version, your device model and operating system version, free memory and storage, the time, and a random installation ID that is not linked to your name or account. Otter is written to keep web addresses, file names and download details out of reports, but an error message can occasionally include part of one. Reports are sent after a crash, and Google keeps them for 90 days. Crash reporting cannot be turned off in the app yet.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Otter keeps the following in its private storage on your device. None of it is sent to us.

Files in the app's private storage are not visible to other apps. Anything you save to a shared folder or to the gallery (section 8) can be read by other apps that have access to that folder.

4. Network Connections

Apart from crash reports, Otter does not contact any server of OsiVibeCode LLC.

5. Ad and Tracker Blocking

Otter blocks known advertising and tracking requests on your device, before they are sent. The block lists are built into the app and are not sent anywhere. Blocking is not perfect, and some sites may not work correctly while it is on.

6. Automatic Backup

On Android, Otter can save a backup of your history, bookmarks and settings to the Download/Otter folder each time you leave the app. Each backup is a plain-text JSON file, readable by any app or file manager with access to that folder. Otter keeps the last seven backups. Backups never include your PIN, encryption keys or secure-download settings. Otter does not encrypt backup files, so delete them if you do not want them kept. Android's own cloud backup does not include Otter's data.

7. Permissions

Otter does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos. Saving videos to the Photos library on iPhone is not available yet.

8. Saving to the Gallery

On Android, the "Save to gallery" action copies a finished MP4 download into Movies/TinyDownloader. That copy is no longer private: gallery and photo apps can show it, and Otter does not encrypt it.

9. Third-Party Services

Otter uses no third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics or sign-in. The outside services involved are the websites and video hosts you choose to use, on Android Google Safe Browsing (section 4), and Google's Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports (section 2). Otter is not made by or affiliated with any website or video service.

10. Data Retention & Deletion

We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. To remove what Otter stored on your device:

Downloads encrypted in the app's private storage cannot be recovered after uninstalling, and neither can a password-locked key that is lost.

11. Children's Privacy

Otter is a general-purpose browser, not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

12. Changes to This Policy

If a future version of Otter collects anything new, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
